Academic Ranking World Universities has been published by the Center for World-Class Universities (CWCU) starting from 2003. In 2009, the copyright and publishing rights of the aforementioned world rankings were taken by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy, an independent rating agency based in China. The company, which is not affiliated with any university or government institution, evaluates these rankings on 6 different indexes based on publications and achievements in the fields.

8 universities from Turkey entered the ARWU 2021 list, in which more than 1800 universities are evaluated and only the best 1000 universities are published. Hacettepe University took place in the 701-800 band. A remarkable point is that the number of universities in our country that entered the rankings has decreased from 11 last year to 8 this year.

It is observed that while Hacettepe University was in the 601-700 band in 2020 in the ARWU World Universities ranking, it regressed to the 701-800 band in 2021, but it maintains its 2-3th place in the Turkey ranking.

In the ARWU 2021 Global Ranking by Academic Subjects, in which 4000 universities from 93 countries were evaluated under 54 subject headings, Hacettepe University was evaluated in a total of 7 fields, namely Food Science and Technology, Biotechnology, Clinical Medicine, Public Health, Nursing, Medical Technology and Education. Our University, which is in the 201-300 band in the world rankings in the topics of Food Science and Technology and Public Health, has succeeded in being the only university in our country to be included in the ranking in this field in 2021. It is the only Turkish university to be ranked in the 401-500 band this year, as it was last year, in the fields of Biotechnology and Clinical Medicine. In the field of Education, which it could not enter in 2020, it entered the list in the 301-400 band and became the 2nd best university in Turkey this year. It is seen that Hacettepe University maintains its place in the 201-300 band in the field of Nursing and 301-400 in the field of Medical Technology among the world universities last year. In the field of Dentistry and Oral Sciences, which we took place in 2020, this year could not be included in the ranking.
