Head of the Department of Urology, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Serdar Tekgül stated that they are one of the few centers in the world that can enlarge non-functioning bladders by using the intestines and then kidney transplant, and that they have healed 30 children with this method.

Tekgül, who was also elected as the President of the European Association of Pediatric Urology, pointed out that bladder problems cause serious problems such as urinary incontinence, growth retardation, recurrent urinary tract infections and chronic kidney disorders in children, and said that bladder augmentation surgery is performed on children with this condition using their own intestines.

Expressing that some of the patients had kidney transplants after bladder operations because their kidney functions were also impaired, Tekgül shared the information that almost all of these patients continued their normal lives in a healthy way.
