7,500-Year-Old Village Ruins Found in Kahramanmaraş

The excavations carried out in the vicinity of Kelibişler Mahallesi in the Türkoğlu district of Kahramanmaraş continue under the coordination of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, under the direction of Hacettepe University Faculty of Literature, Archeology Department Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Tekin. During the excavations, a settlement and a silo thought to belong to 7,500 years ago were found.

The unearthed objects supported the view that the Pre-Sumerian community resided in Anatolia. During the excavation work, important structures belonging to the Pre-Sumerians, the pioneer group of the Sumerian Civilization, were found.
