Our student spoke at the United Nations Environment Conference panel

Hacettepe University Science Faculty Biology Department student Reem Al-Saffar spoke as a panelist at the Leadership Dialogue held at the Stockholm+50 Environment Conference organized by the United Nations in Sweden.

Reem Al-Saffar, a founding member of the Climate Crisis Community affiliated to the Health, Culture and Sports Department of our university, is a climate activist who is also the director of the Middle East and North Africa Youth Network (MENA Youth Network).

Reem Al-Saffar, in his speech at the Stockholm+50 conference, stated that countries should invest in youth for a sustainable future and stated that governments should be accountable in order to take real action on climate-related commitments made at international conferences. Stating that green technologies are of critical importance in the fight against climate change, Al-Saffar drew attention to the importance of circular economy systems, capacity building activities, and efforts to make people in rural areas have a better digital connectivity in climate action.
